Divided by a difference of
opinion on public utilities, Mendham Township and Mendham Borough share a
similar appeal. With a few notable differences, these sister towns offer
plenty. Mendham Borough is six-square-miles with a small town, neighborly feel;
while Mendham Township is 18-square-miles of rural countryside. Both towns
offer annual festivals and events, and Mendham Borough drives people into town
to experience the Black Horse Tavern & Pub, a historic landmark built in
1742 by the town’s founder. Mendham Township has been home to some well-known
people, past and present – Chris Christie, former New Jersey Governor; Peter
Dinklage, actor most recently known for the television show “Game of Thrones;”
and Whitney Houston, singer. Both towns are just 30-40 miles from NYC, so many
residents work in the City.
